2020 RBC Global Employee Wellness Campaigns

Contest Rules

FOR ROYAL BANK OF CANADA EMPLOYEES ONLY: Please read these official contest rules and regulations (“Rules”) in their entirety before entering the Paths to Wellness campaigns (the “Contest”). Do not enter the Contest unless you agree to these Contest Rules. Participation in the Contest constitutes unconditional agreement and acceptance of these Contest Rules, which are final on all matters relating to the Contest. By entering this Contest you agree to be bound by the decisions of the contest sponsor, Royal Bank of Canada (“Royal Bank”), based on data contained in its records. No purchase necessary to enter or to win.

1. CONTEST PERIOD: The Contest will run from 12:01 am Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) on Monday, April 13, 2020, to 11:59 pm EDT on Friday, October 30, 2020 (the “Contest Period”).

a) Registration for the Contest will open on the Website, as defined below, at 12:01 am EDT Monday, April 13, 2020, and will remain open until Friday, October 30, 2020, at 11.59 pm EDT.

b) Participants will have access to the Website until Thursday, December 31, 2020. Should participants wish to access their participation history or save results for historical comparison, they will need to print or save screenshots before December 31, 2020.

c) Completion of activities during outlined campaign periods, as defined below, is required for prize and wellness credit eligibility.

2. TO ENTER: Participants must register at (the “Website”) during the Contest Period to participate in the Contest. Note: If participants registered for the 2019 Paths to Wellness, 2018 Wellness Your Way and/or the 2017 Wellness. Simplified. campaign sites, such participants are already pre-registered for the 2020 campaign site and may use the same registration details.

3. EMAIL REQUIREMENTS: Each participant must use their Royal Bank of Canada work email address to register for and participate in the Contest. Employees who are on leave and already registered for the Contest should use the Update Profile feature to change their email address to a personal email address while they are on leave. Employees who are on leave and are not already registered for the Contest may email [email protected] to request a manual override to enable campaign participation using a personal email address. Employees doing this must include their personal and work email addresses, and copy their manager. A Royal Bank of Canada employee number must also be provided by any employee on leave who wishes to use their personal email address to participate in the Contest. Note: Employees on leave should only register under one email address to avoid duplicated profiles.

4. CAMPAIGN PERIODS: The Paths to Wellness campaign and this Contest begins at 12:01 EDT on April 13, 2020, at which time registered participants will receive access to the Website. The Contest will consist of two separate campaigns, outlined as follows:

  • Campaign 1 ‒ which will be open from April 13, 2020, at 12:01 am EDT to May 22, 2020, at 11:59 pm EDT;
  • Campaign 2 ‒ which will be open from October 5, 2020, at 12:01 am EDT to October 30, 2020, at 11:59 pm EDT.

To be eligible for prizes, employees will need to complete the campaign activities as outlined on the Paths to Wellness Website to earn entries into the Contest. Employees are limited to a maximum of four (4) entries for each of the above-noted campaigns, unless otherwise noted. In order to be eligible for wellness credits, eligible participants must also complete all campaign activities as outlined on the Website.

5. ADDITIONAL WELLNESS CAMPAIGN INCENTIVE PERIODS: In addition to the above campaigns, wellness credits may be offered for additional wellness programs. Please visit the Wellness+ program site on Me & RBC and/or the Wellness Community in RBC Connect for more information on incentive opportunities.

6. ELIGIBILITY: This Contest is open to all active employees of Royal Bank of Canada and its subsidiaries (collectively, “RBC”) globally who have reached the age of majority in their province/territory/state/country of residence on or before the start of the Contest Period. Employees must continue to be actively employed by an RBC company throughout the Contest Period to be eligible for prizes. For the purposes of this Contest, “employee” means full- and part-time regular employees, including term employees and employees under contract. This Contest is not open to the general public.

BEFORE BEING DECLARED A CONFIRMED PRIZE WINNER, the potential prize winner will be required to: (a) correctly answer a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question without mechanical or other aid which will be administered over the phone; (b) sign and return within ten (10) business days of notification the Sponsor’s declaration and release form, which (among other things): (i) confirms compliance with these Rules; (ii) acknowledges acceptance of the prize as awarded; (iii) releases the Sponsor and its respective officers, directors, agents, representatives, successors and assigns (collectively, the “Releasees”) from any and all liability in connection with this Contest, his/her participation therein and/or the awarding and use/misuse of the prize or any portion thereof; and (iv) agrees to the publication, reproduction and/or other use of his/her name, address, voice, statements about the Contest and/or photograph or other likeness without further notice or compensation, in any publicity or advertisement carried out by or on behalf of the Sponsor in any manner whatsoever, including print, broadcast or the internet, and on the winners’ list. If the potential prize winner: (a) fails to correctly answer the skill-testing question within the allotted time; (b) fails to return the properly executed Contest documents, within the specified time; and/or (c) cannot accept the prize as awarded (for any reason); then he/she will be disqualified (and will forfeit all rights to the prize) and the Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to randomly select an alternate eligible entrant from among the remaining eligible entries.

7. HOW TO ENTER: NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. To be eligible for the Contest, employees must register for the Contest and complete the following steps:

  • a) Visit the registration page of the Website at during the Contest Period.
  • b) Enter a valid, correct Royal Bank of Canada email address. (As noted above, employees who participated in the 2019 Wellness Your Way and/or the 2018/2017 Wellness. Simplified. campaigns can continue using the same credentials. New users will need to create a new log-in and credentials for this Website). Employees on leave and employees with Accessibility Accommodation needs may also request a manual exception to complete the campaign using the process outlined.
  • c) Complete the required steps of each campaign during the campaign period, as outlined within the Website.

8. REGISTRATION & EARNING ENTRIES: Registration using a valid and correct Royal Bank of Canada email address is required for entry into the Contest. To be eligible for any prize, participants must also complete the requirements of the campaign, as outlined on the Website.

Campaigns: There will be a total of 2 campaigns for the Paths to Wellness program. For each campaign, there will be a series of “pathways” offered. Completing each pathway will award you one (entry) in the Contest. The number of eligible entries could differ from campaign to campaign.

  • Each pathway will consist of two “micro-challenges/activities”, with 1 activity in each of the following categories: Learn and interact.
  • Participants will earn 1 ballot per completed pathway.
  • Micro-challenges/activities can be completed multiple times, however a maximum of one ballot can be earned per pathway.
  • To earn the maximum number of wellness credits for each campaign period, participants must complete all Pathways for that campaign during the outlined campaign, unless otherwise noted.*

Activities completed outside of the above-noted campaign periods will not be eligible for prizes and/or wellness credits.

Employees can only participate in the Contest using one valid Royal Bank of Canada email address. If it is discovered that an employee has attempted to enter using more than one email address, all of that employee’s entries will be disqualified and that employee will not be eligible for any prize.

9. PRIZE(S): Each campaign offers the opportunity for a chance to win a prize.

To be eligible to win a prize, a participant must complete a minimum number of activities/steps/learning activities, as outlined on the Website, during the respective campaign period. Winners of the prizes will be randomly drawn from those participants determined eligible. Please see below for the allocation of prizes by region. Please note, there is a maximum of one prize per person, per campaign.

34 prizes will be allocated in total, and are available to be won as follows:

In addition to the above, additional incentives may be provided for engaging in certain activities. Further details about these incentives will be outlined in individual campaign communications (e.g. the Wellness Community in RBC Connect).

10. PRIZE DRAWS: Potential prize winners will be selected via a random draw from all eligible participants, after the close of each campaign. The random draw will be held on the dates below:

  • Paths to Wellness Campaign 1: May 29, 2020
  • Paths to Wellness Campaign 2: November 6, 2020

If any of the potential winners cannot be contacted within 15 days of the draw date, his or her entry will be disqualified and another eligible entrant will be randomly selected until all the prizes have been awarded.

11. NOTIFICATION: Potential prize winners will be notified by email or phone after the close of each campaign and no later than the dates below:

  • Paths to Wellness Campaign 1: June 19, 2020
  • Paths to Wellness Campaign 2: November 27, 2020

Names of confirmed prize winners may also be posted on the Wellness+ program intranet site on Me & RBC and in the Wellness Community in RBC Connect.

12. ODDS: The odds of being selected for one (1) of the prizes for each campaign will depend on the total number of eligible entries earned during the campaign and the number of prizes allocated to the region in which you live. Prizes must be accepted as awarded. Prizes may not be sold or transferred and are not convertible to cash. Royal Bank reserves the right in its sole and absolute discretion, to substitute any prize in whole or in part in the event that all or any component of a prize is unavailable.

13. WELLNESS CREDITS: In addition to being eligible to participate in the prize draws, eligible employees who fully participate in the Contest by completing each campaign as indicated during the respective campaign periods, meet the eligibility requirements and provide their correct Royal Bank of Canada email address will receive wellness credits to be deposited into their personal Wellness Account (also known as a Personal Spending Account). Deposit dates for wellness credits and more details can be found in the Wellness Credits area of RBC Connect or on the Wellness+ program – Wellness Accounts and Credits page on the Me & RBC (Canada) intranet.

Wellness credits are only available to employees in Canada who participate in the myBenefits program. A total of $C150 in wellness credit incentives per eligible employee will be offered to be earned in the 2020 Paths to Wellness program, allocated as follows:

  • Paths to Wellness Campaign 1: $C100 – allocated from and deposited in the 2019-2020 myBenefits year.
  • Paths to Wellness Campaign 2: $C50 – allocated from and deposited in the 2020-2021 myBenefits year.

Earned wellness credits will be deposited to wellness accounts managed by Sun Life by the dates outlined on Wellness+ program – Wellness Accounts and Credits page.

Additional wellness credits can be earned outside of the Paths to Wellness Program through other Wellness+ Program initiatives, as outlined in the Wellness Calendar.

14. CONSENT: By entering this Contest, each entrant expressly consents to Royal Bank of Canada, its agents and/or representatives, storing, sharing and using the personal information submitted with his/her entry only for the purpose of administering the Contest and in accordance with Sponsor’s privacy policy (available at: Any other consent that the entrant has given to Royal Bank to receive commercial electronic messages which are currently in effect, and unrelated to this Contest, shall not be affected by the request for consent made pursuant to this Contest.

15. ADDITIONAL TERMS: All entries become the property of Royal Bank of Canada who assumes no responsibility for garbled, inaudible, lost, late, delayed, destroyed or misdirected mail, voice messages, email or any computer errors or malfunctions. Royal Bank of Canada does not assume any responsibility for incorrect or inaccurate capture of entry information, technical malfunctions, human or technical error, seeding or printing errors, lost, delayed or garbled data or transmissions, omission, interruption, deletion, effect or failures of any telephone or computer line or network, computer equipment, software or any combination thereof. Entry materials/data that have been tampered with or altered are void. In the event of a dispute over email entries, the winner will be deemed to be the holder of the email account. If for any reason, in the opinion of Royal Bank of Canada, in its sole discretion, the Contest is not capable of running as originally planned, or if the administration, security, fairness, integrity or the proper conduct of the Contest is corrupted or adversely affected, including but not limited to, by reason of infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes, Royal Bank of Canada reserves its right, without need of individual notice, to cancel, terminate, modify, amend, extend or suspend the Contest in whole or in part, including, without limitation, cancelling any method of entry, and/or selecting a winner by random draw from previously received eligible entries. Royal Bank of Canada reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or to be acting in violation of the Rules or otherwise in a disruptive manner. Any attempts to deliberately damage any website or to undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such attempt be made Royal Bank of Canada reserves its right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent of the law. Royal Bank of Canada and its agents shall not be held responsible for any errors or negligence that may arise or occur in connection with the Contest including any damage to an entrant’s computer equipment, system software or any combination thereof, as a result of their participation in this Contest or from downloading any material from the Website, where applicable.

16. This contest is void where prohibited or otherwise restricted by law.

17. Any litigation in respect of this Contest must be initiated in the city of Toronto, in the Province of Ontario, Canada, and participants hereby attorn to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario.

18. In the event of any discrepancy or inconsistency between the terms and conditions of these English Rules and disclosures or other statements contained in any Contest-related materials, including, but not limited to the Website and French version of these Rules, the terms and conditions of these English Rules shall prevail, govern and control to the fullest extent permitted by law.
